Moonlight (Coequal Stars)

When the month's full circle arrives,
the moon shines bright in the evening sky,
making me wonder what could be
if I were by your side.
Across oceans, yet sharing the same earth,
I drift into contemplation,
asking: aren't we gazing at the same star?
Its radiance hides when day breaks.
The brightness of the moon reminds me
of your captivating chocolate brown eyes,
how they sparkle when joy overflows,
prompting me to speak.
I never thought it would become an obsession-
longing to see those warm, brown eyes looking into mine,
awakening emotions I never knew.
Not all stars shine daily,
slowly fading, then rebounding brighter,
hoping to shine stronger once more.
But none shine bright like you.
Some fade, while others ache
for the warmth of the star that once
locked their heart away.
